Kid's Fishing Day is a day designed for the whole family, but our primary focus is on the kid's. Although parents and adults are encouraged to be with their youngsters to watch them and give them a hand, there is a limit as to how much "help" the adult can provide.
So what is allowed and what isn't? When assisting a youngster, her is what the adult may do: The adult may: 1. Bait the hook. 2. Cast the pole for the youngster. Once the line is cast, the adult must immediately hand the pole back to the youngster. 3. Once the fish is reeled in the adult may net the fish for the youngster. 4. The adult may remove the fish from the line and place it on a stringer.
The actual fishing, including the hooking of the fish, must be done by the youngster. If adults are observed exceeding these limits, they may be contacted by a uniformed Conservation agent and warned about the problem. If the problem continues, it could result in the adult being asked to leave or even in a ticket being issued. We ask for the adults understanding and co-operation in this matter. The main purpose of Kid's Fishing Day is for the kids' to have fun fishing. Along the way we hope that they will learn something about how to fish and that maybe they'll even catch a few fish, but the main purpose of this day is to show the kids that fishing is fun. So, even if it means going home empty handed, we ask that you let the kids experience the fun of fishing. Let them have the pole in their hands and fell that trout strike. Let them experience the excitement and felling of accomplishment that comes from hooking and landing a fish all by themselves. But mainly, let them do the fishing.
